چکیده

During the course of the isolation of gregatin A (1) from submerged cultures of Aspergillus panamensis a new tetronic acid derivative was obtained. According to its cyclic structure this compound was named cyclogregatin (2). In the following the structural elucidation and the biological activities of 2 in comparison with gregatin A will be described. A. panamensis, CBS120.45, was cultivated as described previously0. The crude extract from the culture filtrate was purified by means of chromatography on silica gel. With CHC13 Me2CO (98 :2) gregatin A and cyclogregatin were eluted together. Separation of the two compounds was achieved by rechromatography on silica gel with CH2C12 as eluant. The isolation of cyclogregatin was monitored by TLC on silica gel with toluene Me2COAcOH(70 : 30 : 1) and spraying with vanillin H2SO4 (orange color). Cyclogregatin was obtained as a colorless solid, mp 150155°C, it is soluble in MeOH, Me2C0 and CHC13 and poorly soluble in water. The physico-chemical data of cyclogregatin, C15H18O4, are summarized in Table 1. Similar to the gregatins1'2^ its XHNMRspectrum shows signals for a 1,3-hexadienyl side chain and a

Tetronic acid derivatives from Aspergillus panamensis. Production, isolation, characterization and biological activity.

When Aspergillus panamensis, CBS 120.45, was grown on a medium with high carbon and low nitrogen content, it was found to produce six antibiotically active metabolites. All compounds were identified as tetronic acid derivatives; three of them were found to be identical with gregatins A, B, and D, previously reported as metabolites of Cephalosporium gregatum. The other three compounds are new. A...

Polyphasic taxonomy of Aspergillus section Sparsi

Aspergillus section Sparsi includes species which have large globose conidial heads with colours ranging from light grey to olive-buff. In this study, we examined isolates of species tentatively assigned to section Sparsi using a polyphasic approach. The characters examined include sequence analysis of partial β-tubulin, calmodulin and ITS sequences of the isolates, morphological and physiologi...

Molecular Characterization of a Fungus Producing Membrane Active Metabolite and Analysis of the Produced Secondary Metabolite

Background: The majority of studies on soil Aspergillus concern the isolation and characterization of the antimicrobial compounds produced by this organism. Our previous studies indicated an isolated Aspergillus strain soil to be of interest, and this subject is further investigated here. Method:  Soil samples of various locations in Iran were collected. Extract from Aspergillus sp. culture was...

Parasitical: A New Metabolite from Aspergillus parasiticus

Parasiticol, a metabolite structurally related to the aflatoxins, has been isolated and characterized. The compound is elaborated by several strains of the Aspergillus jiaDus series previously shown to be aflatoxin producers. The metabolite was separated and purified by chromatography Oll three columns (silicic acid, silica gel, and alumiua) followed by recrystallization from chlorofom,-bexane....

Comparative Chemistry of Aspergillus oryzae (RIB40) and A. flavus (NRRL 3357)

Aspergillus oryzae and A. flavus are important species in industrial biotechnology and food safety and have been some of the first aspergilli to be fully genome sequenced. Bioinformatic analysis has revealed 99.5% gene homology between the two species pointing towards a large coherence in the secondary metabolite production. In this study we report on the first comparison of secondary metabolit...
